King & Prince’s Hirano Sho shares honest feelings about Kurosagi casting offer

Hirano Sho (25), from popular Johnny’s boy band King & Prince, will be starring in the upcoming TBS drama series “Kurosagi” (The Black Swindler).

He will be playing the titular role of Kurosaki, a swindler who only targets other swindlers. In other words, a “white conman” that will out-con them all.

In an interview with TBS, the idol-actor shared his honest feelings about receiving the offer. While excited and honored when the casting offer first came, Hirano had some reservations as his public image was known to be quite the opposite - far from a professional conman, Hirano has a real-life persona of being "tennen" and gullible. (Though this will mean that fans can look forward to seeing a different side of him on screen!)

This is Hirano Sho’s first starring role with TBS. In the same interview, he also talks about how excellent TBS’s canteen is, reminiscing good memories when he filmed his previous drama with the station four years ago.

The series "Kurosagi" is based on a famous Japanese manga by Natsuhara Takeshi. This will be its second live adaptation drama series. The new adaptation helmed by Hirano is currently slated for the Friday night slot on TBS in October.

2006 live action version starring Yamashita Tomoshisa as Kurosaki

The manga has previously been adapted as a TV drama on the same channel, with Hirano Sho's agency senpai Yamashita Tomoshisa (Yamapi) leading the drama alongside a young Horikita Maki back in 2006. The drama's theme song "Daite Senorita" sung by Yamashita was also a classic chart topper for that year.
